On the subject of the magazines, wasn't that 25c the cost to the public? The average publisher paid slightly less, and pioneers paid a fraction of that. Just another factor to consider when estimating the profit margin on them.

The paradox exists only if God exists, therefore I must conclude that he doesn’t. If He can create Jesus perfect in every way, then he can create everybody perfect in every way. That is not turning right and left at the same time. The idea that he has created the planet such that He has to balance the death of 20 by flood in Florida against hundreds by famine in Ethopia is about as fatuous as you can get. All the arguments in favour of God’s “mysterious ways” in allowing Evil boil down to attempts to justify the unjustifiable. So let me ask a question about the existence of Evil – who benefits from it?

Does prophesy negate free will?
by Tim207 innot sure if this is in the right subject but here it goes.
i’ve asked this question to a few elders and bethelites but they don’t seem to understand or like the question.
to start off we have to agree that jehovah is all powerful.

From a JW perspective, there is another branch from the “Then why is there Evil?” box, i.e.
I dare say other branches from this box could be dreamt up, but so far they all lead to a God that is either limited and imperfect, or simply doesn’t exist. Oh, there is a third option of course, that he’s an evil pile of shit who deserves nothing but utter contempt. -

Remember the Revelation book?
by wozza ini recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.

I don’t think any Dub, no matter how PIMI, actually believes those books 100%. Back when I was PIMI, the book study was the Ezekiel book (The Nations Shall Know that I am Jehovah) and in private conversation with the study overseer, he admitted not really believing it, with the usual comment, “these things will all become clear in the New System”. And that’s how I viewed all successive books like that afterwards, they were all the product of the fevered imaginings of Freddie, which is the reason there have been no new understandings since he died. This current lot not only lack imagination, they lack the necessary intellect.

did they do an up-dated version of this book with all the new "light" ?
Yes they did, in 2006. You can get both versions here (although the original 1988 edition is a poor quality scan). You can also get the adjustments document as well.
(you will need to scroll down quite a way to find them)

This thread is not about Covid-19
by Ultimate Axiom inevery single news item, on every single news channel, and the majority of threads on this site, for the past three weeks seem to be either directly or indirectly related to covid-19.
is nothing else happening in the world?
has putin stopped slaughtering syrian civilians?

Firstly, thanks to whoever corrected the typo in the title of this thread, much appreciated. There is still nothing on the news that isn’t virus related, and I still haven’t had any more nuisance calls. Maybe nothing else is going on in the world; crime is down over 20% in the UK, so even the poor criminals must be feeling the pinch. But I would still like to hear something other than the constant repetition of statistics and interviews with experts.Simon said,
no one cares about Syria
I’m sure he doesn’t really mean that, but in any case, he’s wrong, I care. I think Putin and Assad should be brought before the International Criminal Court and tried for war crimes. Won’t happen of course, the ICC can only get the smaller fish.
Simon also said
climate-change models have been shown up for the fraud they are
I’m left wondering just who has been defrauded by climate modellers. But what puzzles me is why climate change deniers think the climate is such a stable thing. Surely they are aware that the earth came out of an ice age about 12,000 years ago and has warmed up a lot since then? Even Martin Durkin in his film, “The Great Global Warming Swindle” acknowledged that the climate is changing, he just denied it had anything to do with human activity. He claims that the climate goes through regular cycles of change caused by solar variances (flares, sun spots etc). With glaciers retreating, the ice sheets of Antarctica and Greenland shrinking, the polar cap thinner and global temperatures on average a degree higher than they were a century ago, I’m inclined to agree with Durkin, changes are happening.
If covid-19 has taught us one thing, it’s that the world is quite unprepared for a global emergency of this nature. If the virus takes hold in undeveloped and densely populated areas, especially those with huge refugee problems like Bangladesh, the problem of North Italy, Spain, New York etc will pale in comparison. Who knows what type of “global emergency” will result from climate change, but even if there isn’t one, it would be stupid not to prepare for it.
But as Einstein said, “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe”.

Is nothing else happening in the world? Has Putin stopped slaughtering Syrian civilians? Is Brexit still happening? Has Aung San Suu Kyi had her peace prize taken away? Have all politicians stopped shagging their secretaries?
Well here’s a bit of news that’s got nothing to do with Corona viruses. After over half a century, my born-in niece has become PIMO. It was the pedophile cover ups that started it, and now after several months of secret emails and text messages, I’ve helped open her eyes to the true nature of the WT organisation, and why they are so terrified of the internet.
Obviously she has to tread very carefully now. She has a husband, a son (about to get married), a sibling, nieces and nephews – all in the troof, and she doesn’t want to lose any of them, especially her son. Her mother (my sister) would be horrified, but she died several years ago having spent 50 years believing Armageddon was imminent. One of the last things I heard her say was that her only sadness was that she wasn’t going to live long enough to see the signs in the sun and the moon. So sad, but at least her daughter can now live the rest of her life in freedom.I pressed the button just as I saw the typo in the subject header, sorry about that.

Isn't It Ironic That Many People Now Wish That Many of the Things China is Making Would Actually Be Made in Mexico?
by RubaDub inlet me think of a few advantages to having mexico do more manufacturing for us:.
- low cost labor .
- just drive around or jump over the wall to see family and friends.

There's no benefit to sending manufacturing jobs abroad other than to concentrate wealth in the hands of a few.
Make locally and buy locally, it's better for us all.
Sounds dangerously like Socialism to me. Funny how Western countries are all in favour of free markets and unfettered trade, until it bites them in the arse. When times are good they couldn't give a damn for the sweatshops that make their clothes and shoes.
